Five thousand years ago, this discipline was developed to help people live better lives and to support them through pain and loss. In those trying times it is important to cultivate harmony between mind and body and find balance.Yoga is one of the Indiaâs six main philosophic systems. It is a âdarsanaâ, a specific way of looking at the world. But what does âyogaâ mean? The work comes from the ancient root â*yeug-â, which means âto bind, to joinâ. Itâs goal is to unify body and mind and heart. It is a way to find yourself and become conscience of oneâs existence.Yoga is based on several principles:Yoga sutraChakraMeditationRelaxationBreathingMeditation is only of the ways that yoga helps relieve stress. He or she can tell you if your state of health is up to regular yoga practise. Not a ll types of yoga are good for everybody. A medical opinion can be vital and yoga teachers often ask for a doctorâs approval before taking you on.Some yoga poses can be physically very demanding. Be sure that your doctor approves of practising yoga for your condition. Photo credit: Robert Bejil Productions via Visualhunt.comBeginning Your Yoga Lesson: RelaxationYogaâs main goal is relaxation. We need to forget our difficult day at work and take advantage of this moment of rest. Itâs important to just let go and gain confidence. Your yoga teacher will be there to guide you and keep you from tensing up.But how does a yoga class start? With just that: a little moment of relaxation. You will need to calm your mind to better concentrate. These exercises involve on slow breathing that stretches the diaphragm. Your back should be straight to allow you to breathe properly. Are you afraid of appearing silly?Donât be. From one yoga session to another, students get to know themselves and e ach other and truly relax. Little by little, yoga instructor and students build up a relationship that will encourage relaxation. The right ambiance is vital for practising yoga. Mindfulness of mind and body is essential if you want to live consciously in the present moment - a way of thinking extolled by many yoga practitioners for the better quality of l ife it affords.Within many yoga classes, meditation often comes after the relaxation period. Why?Concentration is indispensable. You also have to be in good physical condition (warmed up) but also in the proper mood, keeping your mind open and free from daily problems.Meditation is impossible without concentration. It allows you to see more clearly and stop thinking.Thoughts and ideas tend to accumulate over the course of the day - but now is the time to cut loose.Even though yoga is a physical activity, it is above all a mental discipline.Yoga lets you re-centre yourself and your feelings. But not all meditation is the same. There are different techniques - some concentrate on a specific object, others on the Self in order to progress along the path of enlightenment.Meditation is where many yoga enthusiasts find well-being and the best way of avoiding stress. It forces them to think of nothing but the present moment. What are the concrete benefits of yoga meditation? Yoga:Lessens psyc hosomatic problemsGenerally improved healthRelaxes the nervous systemReduces tensionLets you put some distance between yourself and your problemsHelps you control your fearsImproves self-esteem.Meditation also helps you not be constantly analysising and judging. What is important is the intuition sparked by observation of the environment in that moment. This lets us be in synch with what is around us.Agility and Flexibility For a Sportive Approach to YogaFollowing meditation exercises, things are upped a notch. Indeed, one advantage of yoga classes is that it slowly raises the difficulty level, allowing the body to adapt to the poses little by little. Once the mind is serene, it needs to reconnect to the body. This is done with a specific series of yoga poses.Yoga poses, or asanas, help increase flexibility. They are the centre of the yoga lesson, framed by meditative exercises. Photo credit: FreetoBreathevsLungCancer via VisualHunt.comThe practice of yoga is recommended for people needing to build up muscle or to stretch certain parts of their body. Physical health and well-being are put forward. Here are some of the benefits of yoga for physical health:Stretches the spinal cord and articulationsHeals back problemsTones musclesRegulates organ functions (liver, bladder, stomach, etc.)Stimulates the endocrine glands (thyroid and hypophyse)Stimulates the adrenal glandsPurges the organismRe-oxgenates the cellsInvigorates the antibodies and enforce the bodyâs natural resistanceThe poses will be more or less complicated depending on your level. It is important to start gently and not try and force things. If you go too quickly, the risk of injury will be higher. This is why it is important to have a yoga instructor on hand. They know their studentsâs level and of what they are capable.Using Yoga To Work On Breathing and the DiaphragmAfter relaxation, meditation and more physical exercises, itâs time for breathing exercises. Most yoga sessions end with them in or der to help you return to a state of calm before leaving.Learning to breathe is not as easy as it sounds and many people breathe wrong. It can lead to:General weaknessPoor digestionA weak immune systemBad circulationDifficulties in concentratingA tendency to be overwhelmed by stress and emotionsRemember that breathing is the basis for energy production in the body - the breathing process is essential to good health. You only need to take this example: when hiking at high altitudes, athletes need to acclimate slowly or even use oxygen bottles. Without enough oxygen to the brain, the brain slows down - and the other organs with it.Breathing mindfully helps the energy flow within your body. Yoga lessons teach you special breathing exercises. Photo credit: WeTravel.com via Visual HuntBut how to improve your breathing?Yoga lessons concentrate on a specific organ: the diaphragm. It needs to be loosened to help in breathing, but also improve digestion and blood circulation. To help you with this, your yoga teacher with concentrate on exercises to strengthen your diaphragm.A little exerciseThis is a simple exercise often used in schools to help children calm down after an active recess. Breathe in deeply while inflating your stomach, then hold your breath for a few seconds. Then let go slowly while breathing out. This exercise is also used by singers and comedians to calm down in stressful situations. To control your breathing is also to calm your heart rate. Your yoga teacher can use some exercises to slow down your breathing. But you will also need to balance your breathing. The respiratory system alternates between the right and left nostrils about every two hours. If the nose is congested, this disrupts the cycle and breathing is unbalanced.Balancing exercises are important to prevent poor health - by preventing not only physical illness, but also mental distress.A good way to finish a yoga session and leave in good state of mind and body.Find out how much yoga lessons cost with our blog of yoga prices.
Regression What it is and How to Avoid it This Summer
Regression What it is and How to Avoid it This Summer Its summer vacation, and your child is probably happy to spend his or her days lounging and recuperating from the hectic school year. A break is well deserved, but Dr. Ray Huntington of the Huntington Learning Center urges parents to engage their children in learning activities to avoid summer regression. Put simply, summer regression is the loss of academic knowledge gained throughout the school year. Learning loss or the summer slide among students over summer break is a very real problem that we see often, says Huntington, adding that most students can lose several months of grade-level equivalency in math and reading achievement during this period. He offers several ways for parents to help minimize summer regression: Read daily. A daily reading habit is one of the easiest ways for children to keep their brains in shape over summer and deter any loss of reading ability. Incorporate reading into the summer routine. Check out book clubs or summer reading programs offered at your local library or book store. Visit the library every week. Start a series as a family and read a book together. Write often. Writing frequently will help your child keep up important literacy skills such as self-expression and vocabulary acquisition. While you might have trouble convincing your child to write essays or book reports this summer, creative writing or journal writing still has many benefits. It encourages creativity, problem solving and experimentation with various types of storytelling, and also improves communication skills. Plan educational visits. Dont forget that visits to your local history, science, art and other museums are fun learning opportunities. If youre taking any vacations, incorporate a family field trip to an interesting monument, historical site or museum in the area youre visiting. Before you go, check out books from the library about the place or topic that you can read together. Use the plane or car ride home as a chance to reflect on the visit, what your child learned, and what he or she wants to learn more about. Set aside daily learning time. If your child does best with a learning routine, consider purchasing grade-specific workbooks that your child can work on throughout the summer. The goal of these programs is to help students practice and maintain skills they acquired all year and prevent them from losing those concepts due to inactivity. Your school or teacher might have recommendations, but books such as Summer Bridge, ThinkStretch and Summer Fit are worth consideration. Just 15 minutes a day can make a huge difference. Enroll in a summer learning program. Whether your child struggled this school year and needs to catch up or you want to help your child build new skills and confidence, an individualized summer tutoring program is a great solution. Huntington can help your child maintain skills, improve habits and prepare for a smooth transition into the next grade. Parents can help their child minimize regression this summer by investing a small amount of time into learning activities, says Huntington. Bipolar Bear
Bipolar Bear Polar Bear vs. Bipolar Bear. Can you get this joke? If youre a math agnostic like me you also might have to ask your friend what this joke means. Then both of you can have a good laugh. So read on to hear my explanation and dont worry this bipolar has nothing to do with the dreaded mental disorder. In mathematics, the polar coordinate system is a two-dimensional coordinate system in which each point on a plane is determined by a distance from a fixed point and an angle from a fixed direction. Sounds not so bad, hmm? Incidentally, and because I do much better in history than in math, the concepts of angle and radius were already used by the ancient Greeks such as Hipparchus and Archimedes. These are names I can remember. Extending our joke to our bipolar bear we now learn what is a bipolar coordinate system. It is based on Apollonian circles, that is circles that intersect at right angles. The curves of constant ? and of ? are circles that intersect at right angles. The coordinates have two foci F1 and F2. And thats the essence of it. Now look at the picture below for a visual description of (bi)polar coordinate system and have one more good laugh when looking at our (bi)polar bears. .
Google Library a blessing or a curse for education
Google Library a blessing or a curse for education Google wants to create the world's largest library - online. The Internet gargantuan wants to expand its 'Google Books' programme to cover almost all books currently in or out of print, essentially outstripping even the UK copyright libraries, such as the British and Bodleian libraries, in quantity of content. The suggested format includes a remuneration scheme for authors whose work remains in copyright, but does open up a whole can of worms regarding fair use and accessibility. On the plus side, the project would provide a massive educational resource, the like of which has never been seen before. It will make key texts available to pretty much everyone in the developed world. Clearly this tool can be an unprecedented help to students and tutors alike, providing a one-stop literary research tool, with contents comparable to the most trusted real-world sources. However, such a tool does present a thorny copyright issue, with many authors feeling they are being asked to sign away their work for a pittance; this includes academic papers as well as fiction. It could also encourage a lazy approach to research, chaining students even more strongly to their computers. In creating a resource on this scale, Google will effectively capture the market, possibly reducing the number of unbiased sources available in the long term and essentially creating a weaker research environment. What do you think of Google's plans? From a tuition point of view, will this development be a fantastic new resource for you and your students, or more of a poisoned chalice?

Organic Chemistry Articles - What Is It All About?
Organic Chemistry Articles - What Is It All About? In the field of chemistry, it is very common to see organic chemistry articles in any website of any person. This article is not meant to make you very happy, but we want to point out that it's more important than what kind of organic chemistry articles you'll read on the internet, but more in the fact about what you will read.It is a known fact that many people have been having troubles in finding the best chemistry articles to read, because the way most of them look. You may say, 'well, that's just how they are'. Yes, it is true, but not everyone will be able to get a good one, even when they've researched hard enough.Although the major search engines like Google and Yahoo search out all the articles on the internet, there are still so many people who do not know where to find the best ones. Do you know what it means to be first on the first page? First, it means that there is no way to go past, and the more number of searches you m ake, the more chances you get.So how can you do it? And I would say that the best way is by finding and contacting those people who are first on the web pages of these search engines, then ask them if they would write some articles for you.The reason why they are so popular is because of the fact that they always provide high quality articles, that are written according to the topic you are searching on, with so much knowledge and experience behind it. This is very useful for every individual who wants to learn more about organic chemistry. If you are living in the United States, Canada or the UK, these are countries that have English as the main language, so your chances to communicate with them will also be higher. On the other hand, if you are living in a country like Australia, New Zealand, or Japan, you need to use Japanese or Korean translations, so you need to check first if you can translate.Just before you start writing the articles, it's best if you will try to write your a rticles using a calculator. After you're done with the article, post it online and get as many views as possible.
